What is developer's target time to go from book reader beta to full version?

> We also support full text search against books

of course, that's "full text search" on your crappy o.c.r.,
which means people won't get the results they really want.

[...] From the Blog Post: The Internet Archive has released a new book reader in beta. The new version of our book reader provides support for several critical new features. The reader is widgetable, so it can be embedded easily in blog posts or digital asset repository pages. We also support full text search against books, and the new reader can display extremely high resolution images, up to the limit of the archival scan. Finally, a highly desired feature: it supports books written in right to left languages, such as our fantastic new Yiddish collection, and certain CJK historical or display variants.
> We’ve spent a lot of time working on a new
> URL scheme that allows deep-linking into books
> as well as search highlighting and other features.

will there be any _public_ discussion of this new u.r.l. scheme?

_many_ of the things you've "spent a lot of time working on"
in the past have holes that one could drive a truck through,
so i surely hope this will not be yet another one of those...

We've spent a lot of time working on a new URL scheme that allows deep-linking into books as well as search highlighting and other features. We want to get this right since we hope these URLs will be around for many years!

You can track progress on our Launchpad page for this feature: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/gnubook/+bug/302656

Hmm, looking at it, there doesn't seem to be any way to do the latter. 'Search inside' is entirely javascripty, with no way to construct a url 'deep linking' into search results for a particular book.

This was true of the previous book reader too, and I wrote someone at IA saying it was really unfortunate, and they told me it would be fixed in the next flipbook software. Doh!

Nice. I would like to link to search inside the book with IA/OL books, as I have with Amazon and Google. How can my software know if a particular book supports 'search inside'? If and only if you have it in full text?

If my software knows a query, can I link directly to a results page on IA/OL? That's what I do with Google and Amazon, allowing me to display a query form in my software, but when the user presses 'go', direct them to the results in the third party service.
